International Wine Challenge:

Orange zest, hazelnut and apricots. Complex aromas and rich well aged palate. Touch of green walnuts at the end.

The Wine Advocate:

The 1989 Golden White Port (Dalva) is a field blend, mostly Malvasia Fina, Viosinho and Rabigato, coming in at 115 grams per liter of residual sugar. As I've come to expect from this brand, this is elegant, refined and sophisticated. Showing just a little tawny character on the finish, this is still subdued and laid back, but its brightness and tension make it very appealing. It is impeccably balanced and just delicious, too. Sexy, thanks to its unctuous texture, and understated at the same time, this is a pretty package. Just let all that lifted fruit and controlled sugar dribble over the palate. You'll be happy.

Wine Enthusiast:

As white Port—Port made from white grapes—ages, it develops a wonderful golden color. It also develops intense old wood and spice flavors that add to the dried fruit. This is a fabulous, rare wine and is ready to drink. (Roger Voss).
