Tim Atkin:

A new wine from an historic cellar, this is a Monastrell led blend (80%) with 14% Giró, 3% Arcos and 3% Bobal. From a single vineyard planted in 1980 in the highest part of the Alto Vinalopó, it was fermented with 30% whole bunch and part aged in tinajas. It is pretty and floral with a real Mediterranean character, while on the palate there is f linty energy with chalky tannins. A lovely balance of ripe fruit and drive. 2024 -2026

The Wine Advocate:

I'm not sure why they bottled the 2023 Lo de Pepitín so early, because I think the wine has potential for more. It's a blend of 75% Monastrell, 20% Giró, 3% Bobal and 2% Arcos from a single vineyard planted in 1981 at 615 meters in altitude. The grapes fermented together in stainless steel and tinaja with 30% full clusters and matured in tinajas from Padilla for three months. It's light and has 13.85% alcohol and the freshness of 2023, in search of the aromatics of a semi-carbonic maceration and a very fine-boned palate, but it's a bit raw. 2,500 bottles were filled in November 2023.
